The Domaine de Joreau was once the servants' quarter of the nearby Chateau de Joreau, founded in 1130. Until the middle of the last century this 70m (230 feet) long building accommodated the washhouse and the farm with henhouse, stable and cowshed.

Since its independence its exterior has hardly changed. The servants were housed grandly in those days. Its beautiful lime stone façade, the slate roof and the oak windows are typical of the local architecture of the Loire valley. The majestic park of 10 ha (25 acres), with 7 ha (17 acres) forest, is ideal for relaxing and enjoying picnic in the shade of an old tree.

The old henhouse, at the southern end of the building, has been transformed into a cosy, 3*-qualified, self-contained gite. The old washhouse, the northern wing of Joreau, was composed of a laundry, a drying hall and an ironing room. Today this whole part is reserved for our bed & breakfast guests.

In between lives, since November 2005, your landlord family - Petra & Jörg Schewe with their children Robin, Jana and Lea.
